Covenblue (/covenblue/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Vyaskkobe County, Tifia County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Covenblue is derived from the Sylvin language, as Covenblue was founded by Syhn Swanston, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Covenblue has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 18°C (64°F). Covenblue receives an average of 141 cm/y (55 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Covenblue covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4970 m (16305 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Covenblue was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1298, by Syhn Swanston. The establishment of Covenblue suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Covenblue was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Covenblue is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Covenblue is buildings are arranged within a network of narrow gravel streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Covenblue weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

A look around Covenblue has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s everything together. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Covenblue long.

Covenblue possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Covenblue has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Covenblue has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Covenblue's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is inspired by the natural world, characterized by sinuous, sculptural, organic shapes, arches, curving lines, and sensual ornamentation. Common motifs included stylized versions of leaves, flowers, vines, insects, animals, and other natural elements. Decorative elements found on the inside and outside of buildings include intricate mosaic work, curved windows, and decorative trim work. .

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Covenblue.

The Ettercap near Covenblue are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Covenblue's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves creating small tokens to channel Abjuration energies of tier 2 via recitation of scripture.
